Happy Birthday To Me

Well today I turned 50 years old.  My Mom called this morning to wish me a happy birthday and she asked how do I feel?  I said same as yesterday.  She said that's what Dad said.(My Dad turned 77 yesterday)  My Dad then said how's my old girl, I replied how's my old man, this being the first time I called him that.

Then my eldest daughter Katherine came with my 2 year old grandson Logan.  Logan gave me this for my birthday. . . . . .

He picked it off my tree as he was walking to my front door.  Lol

Then I made my birthday cake.  We are waiting for my 2nd grandson to be born next week before we have a quadruple birthday party(my Dad, Mom, youngest son and myself).  The big party is in a couple of weeks with family and friends.

My eldest son Mathew and his wife Amanda came by and spent a couple of hours with me.  It was the best present ever..

I finished my Star Surround pillow so on to finishing my other projects, start another Star Surround pillow and continue to organize my craft room.  Oh yeah and get the rest of my kids ready for school.

Building Star Surround

Oops!  I'm bad, I didn't read all of last week's instructions.  I built and sewed my star last week.  I have picked out the fabric for three more Star Surround pillows.  Since I did that it has opened up some time to do some back to school cleaning.  Now back to more sewing.

A Challenge For Me

My friend Terri in BC came over last weekend to do some sewing and chatting.  She challenged me to post everything I make.  So I'm taking the challenge.  This week I worked on my September Calendar from  Nancy HalvorsenStar Surround Quilt-A-Long with Melissa Corry and Easy Street Mystery Quilt with Bonnie Hunter.

I'm a little slow with Easy Street which started last October 2012 and was supposed to be finished January 2013.  Now because Bonnie is putting the Easy Street pattern in a book it is no longer on her blog.
Here is Easy Street Block A.  I decided to lay one out after I finish sewing one.  In doing this this week I was able to get one sewn a day.  Yeah for me!

Here is the finished stack.  Only 11 more to go then on to Block B which there are 9 to make.   Then it will be putting it together since I have the triangle pieces already done.

I'm also working on Bonnie's Orca Bay which was her mystery quilt a couple of years ago, which I'm hoping to finish before Christmas.  I need to pick up the pace putting it together and post some pictures.

The calendar from Nancy Halvorsen I started it December 2011(yes I'm slow :).

Terri in BC bought two kits, one for her and one for me, they were block of the month.  We were sent the kit the month before to be finished for that month, well we all know that didn't happen. I still have to quilt the "E" and the stem.  I need to go buy some brown thread.  After that I only have October to finish.  When it is done I will post a pic of all the pieces.  It has been fun but applique is really time consuming.
So Terri what is your count?

Yeah I've finished the block.  This has been a fun project.  I enjoyed it so much that I'm going to make a few more to cover the cushions for my living room furniture.
Thank you so much Melissa for the instructions to this fun pattern.

Building The Star Centers for my Star Surround Quilt-A-Long

Building Star Surround Centers from Melissa Corry's Happy Quilting.  I'm excited to put my star together.  Another first for me.  I've never made a star before.  Yeah for me.  I think there will be a few more pillows for my living room coming.  I see a couple of spots that don't match up so I think I will take it a part and fix the two junctions where they don't meet.

Star Surround Quilt-A-Long - Flying Geese

Star Surround Quilt-A-Long - Flying Geese from Melissa Corry's Happy Quilting
Yeah! The flying geese are done.  First time using this method.  It was pretty easy.  I have only made flying geese by using the Easy Angle.  Ready for the next step, again I can't wait until next Monday for the next step.  Well on to continuing on another project.

Sew Darn Crafty Linky Party...Week 126

I spent the last three days going thru Sew Many Ways (Karen's blog) from the beginning to today.  Oh my goodness I just about went crazy with excitement with all the things I can do with my own crap.  Now I'm joining the party!!!!!

My friend Terri in BC gave me some of her crap (jars) to do with what I please.  I thought a-ha canisters.  The only thing was the lids where an ugly yellow so out came the spray paint.  I painted them white, added labels, filled them up and called it done.
